This sales order processing system was written specifically for the small to medium sized wholesale horticultural nurseries. It was designed and developed by close co-operation with Bob Mathias. Bob had been using another well known system for the horticultural business but found it cumbersome and difficult for his staff to use. Bob asked GB Associates to develop the new software for his Tilford nursery and has been so pleased with it that he wanted to make it available to other growers.

Bob Mathias, owner of conifer specialist CGJ Mathias & Son said:

"There are dozens of small family nurseries like ours who need something reliable, simple and easy to use.

We set out to find a straightforward program that anyone on the nursery could use without days of training. We wanted something that could produce pick lists, delivery notes and bar coded labels for garden centres and also run up a sales invoice for cash and carry customers. Also we needed to analyse sales by product, customer or dates and to be able to export data to our Sage accounts package.

But a small nursery like ours does not need production scheduling or stock levels.

I was unable to find a proprietary package but came across GB Associates who understood the nursery’s needs and came up with a solution.

The system was developed without all the mystique normally associated with computer software.

It was a huge success. It does just what we want without a lot of extra bells and whistles we do not need, and staff can just get on and use it.

A copy has already been sold to another nursery and I was pleased with the interest generated at exhibitions."

The first copy is being used by another Surrey nursery Goddard’s (Nuseries). “We have been really pleased with it, it is much better suited to us than anything we have had in the past” says Commercial manager Doug Hammond.

Doug has been particularly pleased with the software’s versatility and speed of use. “We have incorporated it into our existing system to cover a wide range of plant types and pot sizes. The information it can generate on sales patterns has been really useful too”.
